Black and White / Harry Hinkle and Jim Burchette

The Art Depository presents the black and white photography of Kentucky artists, Harry L Hinkle and Jim Burchette from August 7 through September 13, 2008. An artist’s reception, open to the public, will be held on Friday, August 15 from 4 – 8 pm.
Our next exhibit Black & White, features two Kentucky artists, Harry Hinkle of Lexington and Jim Burchette from Morehead; both work with film and traditional darkroom development and printing. But the similarity ends with the materials.
Harry creates works with great detail and high definition, while Jim burns out all of the back ground to bring a very narrow focus to the image. Harry works traditionally and Jim works experimental. Jim is self taught; he has an image in his mind that he works diligently to get expressed onto the paper while Harry records an image expressed in perfect light. Black and white photographs from two artists that are 108 degrees separate.

INNER FOCUS- OUTER GLOW Pencil Portraits by a Group three local Artists

The Art Depository presents the pencil work of three local artists, Dana Wolford, Suzanne Erny, and Jennifer Mercer from June 26 through August 2, 2008, with an artist’s reception, open to the public, on July 11 from 4 – 8 pm.

Dana Wolford, a self-taught artist with a passion for faces and color, uses colored pencils and watercolors to capture fleetingness of time and our short sojourn here.

Suzanne Erny has an art degree, but spent her early years raising her family and working in creative endeavors such as clothing design. Her portraits are of Native Americans in traditional dress sprinkled with a few cowboys.

Jennifer Mercer, Suzanne’s daughter, has benefit of her mother’s artistic genes. Mercer’s work is comprised of very tight graphite portraits that are often mistaken for photographs.

Oh, to Create! A Group Show of nonprofessional local Artists

The Art Depository presents our third exhibit of art work and fine craft created by local nonprofessional artists. On display from May 22 through June 21, 2008, with an artist’s reception, open to the public, on May 23 from 4 – 8 pm.
This year's display includes pen & ink drawings, paintings, photographs, graphite portraits, pottery, wood turned bowls, wood jewelry boxes, natural stone jewelry, tatting and needlework, from fifteen local artists.

A Group Show of University of Kentucky Artists and Professors

The Art Depository will present a select group of students and professors from University of Kentucky College of Fine Arts, for an exhibit of works in downtown Nicholasville, KY from April 10, 2008 through May 10, 2008. An artist’s reception open to the public will be held on April 11, 2008 from 4 pm until 8 pm.

This year’s exhibit, the third for UK at the Art Depository, is extremely exciting. The quality of work is way above par for student work, covering a wide range including photography in three formats, oil painting, silkscreen, and fiber.

A Group Show by Asbury College Students & Alumni

Nicholasville, KY, February 18, 2008: Asbury College will present a select group of student at The Art Depository, in downtown Nicholasville, KY from February 16, 2008 through March 22, 2008. An artist’s reception open to the public will be held on February 22, 2008 from 4 pm until 8 pm.

This student-juried show includes some very exciting glass mosaic windows, slumped glass vases and plates, fused glass, raku pottery, paintings, drawings, and ceramics. This will be the third year Asbury College has appeared at the gallery. The quality of work in this show is worthy of any professional artist.

Located 20 minutes south of Lexington, Asbury College is a private, residential, liberal arts institution committed to academic excellence and spiritual vitality. Founded in 1890, the College offers 49 undergraduate majors plus graduate programs in special education, teaching English as a second language and alternative teacher certification programs in several disciplines to approximately 1,300 students.
